The rematch of the 2024 Champions League final did not disappoint. Real Madrid did what they did best in the competition, leaving the audience speechless. They claimed a 5-2 comeback win over the Germans. However, what added to the game’s unpredictability was that Dortmund were comfortably on top till the 62nd minute.
Nuri Sahin and his men initially dominated Real Madrid to the extent that the Los Blancos hung by a thread. Two sublime finishes from Donyell Malen and Jamie Gittens took the Santiago Bernabeu by storm. However, Sahin dug his own grave in the second half when he subbed off Gittens for Walder Anton, a central defender, in the 55th minute.
It didn’t take long for Antonio Rudiger to head in Real Madrid’s first of the night. The German’s thumping header was set up by Kylian Mbappe before Vinicius Jr. and Lucas Vazquez ran riot of the men in yellow. The 5-2 win remains an impressive comeback win from the hosts.

Vinicius Jr. stuns with thrilling hat-trick against Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund didn’t know what hit them in the second half against Real Madrid as Vinicius Jr. took it upon himself to claim all three points. After trailing by two goals, an amazing hat-trick meant Madrid ended the night with a 5-2 victory. The player’s first goal came from a tap-in when the ball luckily fell to his feet after Mbappe was tackled near the edge of the box.
However, his second and third goals of the night were truly a sight to behold. Set up by Jude Bellingham, the Brazilian dribbled to the edge of the box before firing low and hard into the bottom right corner. His shirt came off during the celebrations as he ‘confirmed’ the win for his side. His third and final goal came in injury time when the winger turned Waldemar Anton inside out.

He then proceeded to blast his left-footed strike and find the roof of the net. Following the win, Real remains in 9th position in the Champions League table. Despite conceding five goals on the night, Dortmund still sit comfortably in sixth. Real have a major challenge coming up with a fight for the top spot in La Liga against rivals FC Barcelona.
