Florian Wirtz was a key element in propelling the attacking echelons of Bayer Leverkusen in their Bundesliga-winning campaign last year. Real Madrid has now expressed their interest in the German striker, which has somewhat left the fans in a state of bother, considering the firepower that Los Blancos already has.

As reported by Sky German reporter Florian Plettenberg, Real Madrid is viewing Florian Wirtz as a key replacement for Luka Modric. However, Wirtz has ample time left on his contract with Bayer Leverkusen as it runs out in 2027. This means that Real Madrid will have to broker a negotiation with the German club, and including the release clause, they might just end up paying more than €100 million.

The report also states that Wirtz himself is interested in joining Real Madrid. Hence, if it comes to cross-currents with other teams, Madrid will have a headstart in landing the German wunderkind. It isn’t just Real Madrid who are interested in signing Wirtz. There are other potential suitors who are pretty much in the same category, namely, Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

In the ongoing season, Wirtz has already scored seven goals in 15 games while carving one assist. The last season witnessed him setting the Bundesliga on fire with 18 goals and 20 assists in 49 matches. He played 3475 minutes last season for Bayer Leverkusen and delivered countless glorious moments for them.
