Daniel Carvajal SCREAMS in pain after suffering serious knee injury against Villarreal

Real Madrid picked up an impressive 2-1 win over Villarreal, although the Los Blancos were forced to pay a humongous fee in exchange for the same. In the final minutes of the clash at the Santiago Bernabeu, Spanish veteran Daniel Carvajal was brought to tears as he came together with Yeremy Pino while challenging for a loose ball.
The player was captured by cameras screaming in pain as he overextended his knee in a collision with Pino. He was subsequently stretchered off the pitch and given medical attention, following which he posted an emotional message on social media. Real Madrid‘s official statement regarding the injury reads that the 32-year-old has torn his ACL, external collateral ligament and popliteus tendon in his right leg.
The player also confirmed the severity of his injury and thanked the fans and players for their heartfelt messages. Madrid are currently second in La Liga after League leaders Barcelona.

Following the unfortunate incident against Villarreal, it has been established that Daniel Carvajal will be sidelined for several months. Coming back from an ACL injury is in itself a huge challenge. To do so aged 32 is a huge ask for any player. While certain players have considered retirement in the light of similar injuries, Madrid have backed the club legend to come back from injury.
After news of the setback became official, the club announced a contract renewal till 2026. Fans applauded the decision and praised the club for backing a legend that his given everything to the club. They also recalled how the player was diagnosed with a heart infection in 2017, but proceeded to make a comeback.
Former club and international teammate Sergio Ramos posted a message in support of the player. The 38-year-old stated that Carvajal can overcome any obstacle and that he has his unconditional love and support. Carvajal appeared in every single La Liga and Champions League game for Carlo Ancelotti‘s side and will be missed alongside Thibaut Courtois for the upcoming games.
