After speculations about Sergio Ramos‘ return to Real Madrid made the rounds, AS has now reported that Los Blancos have other plans for the transfer market. Instead of bringing in Ramos, Real Madrid have set their eyes on German defender Jonathan Tah.
Tah, who is 28 years old, is contracted to Bayer Leverkusen defender until the end of the current season. As per the report, Real Madrid want to woo Tah and sign him up as a free agent. With this move, Sergio Ramos’ potential return to the club goes out of the window.
Club president Florentino Perez and his fellow board members have reportedly agreed that Ramos is a closed chapter. Eder Militao’s second ACL injury in the last two seasons has further compounded Real Madrid’s defensive woes.
The club hierarchy believes that Tah should be the perfect contender to fill in the gap while bolstering their defense. Apart from Tah, Real Madrid also have their eyes on a couple of other options, namely Aymeric Laporte and Castello Lukeba.

Even though all three of these options will need some coaxing to join them, AS believe that Real Madrid is working on landing one of the three aforementioned stars.
Real Madrid has said no to Sergio Ramos’ return
The prospect of Sergio Ramos making a return to Real Madrid emerged when the club was plagued with too many defensive woes. Skipper Dani Carvajal has already been sidelined for the remainder of this ongoing season while Eder Militao and Lucas Vazquez became the latest additions to the growing list of injuries.
However, AS has reported that Florentino Perez and his board members met for a detailed meeting to address the issues. Despite being the dire straits, they unanimously decided against re-signing Ramos.
With only Antonio Rudiger, Ferland Mendy, Jesus Vallejo, and Fran Garcia to reinforce Real Madrid’s defense, the club continues to look for proper additions. Real Madrid will next be in action when they face Leganes on November 24.
