Jude Bellingham was at the center of controversy once again, after he was sent off during Real Madrid’s frustrating 1-1 draw against Osasuna in the La Liga. The Englishman was shown a red card for lashing out, as well as using an X-rated slur at the referee.
Real Madrid endured their second consecutive draw in the Spanish top-flight. The defending champions were held to a dismal 1-1 scoreline by Osasuna. Despite taking a first-half lead through Kylian Mbappe‘s 15th minute strike, Madrid failed to hold on. Ante Budimir equalized for the home side with a 58th minute penalty, that was awarded for Aurelien Tchouameni‘s foul on the Croatian forward.
Jude Bellingham‘s 39th minute red card also squandered Real Madrid’s opportunities of getting a win, as they were forced to play with just ten men for the rest of the match. The 21-year-old midfielder was sent off for lashing out at referee Jose Luis Munuera Montero. It left the visitors increasingly frustrated, as they expressed their dissatisfaction with the referee’s decisions.

Montero and Bellingham had a lengthy argument before the sending off. The referee claimed that the midfielder had used disrespectful and insulting language. Bellingham was angrily protesting against one of Montero’s decisions, when he made an ‘X-rated’ comment at him, while adding that he was speaking to him with ‘respect’. The referee immediately showed a straight red card to the midfielder.
I’m trying to talk to you with respect. F*** off!

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick reacts to Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham’s red-card controversy
Barcelona man had a straight-forward reaction to Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham’s sending-off, in a 1-1 draw against Osasuna. The 21-year-old midfielder was red carded for abusing the referee, and using an X-rated slur.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the Catalan boss responded to the controversy surrounding Bellingham. While labeling the situation as ‘disrespectful’, Flick suggested that players should not waste their time talking to the referees. Moreover, he added that the captain of a team is the only one who should involve himself in confrontations with the referee.
It is disrespectful, but I’m not the one who should comment on it. That’s what I’ve always told the players. Why waste time and energy arguing with the referee regarding the decisions he makes?
