Even though Trent Alexander-Arnold has been linked to Real Madrid in recent months, fans are still unclear as to whether the player will commit to his future at Anfield or not. As 2025 comes around, reports state that the Englishman has become the top priority signing for Real Madrid.

With trusted right-back Daniel Carvajal touching 33, Real Madrid certainly needs a ‘worthy’ successor. It is understood that Liverpool is completely against the idea of letting the Englishman leave in January.

However, there also exists the problem that the club will be forced to let him go for free if it fails to convince the player to sign an extension. With the player’s contract expiring at the end of the season, he is free to talk to other clubs and work towards a pre-contract agreement.

While the transfer saga has caused a lot of commotion on social media, fans still remain divided on the same. While several fans are against the idea of him leaving his boyhood team, others claim that he is doing what’s best for his career. The right-back has been a crucial element of Liverpool‘s squad for a long time, with his role evolving throughout the years.

Liverpool legend calls out Trent Alexander-Arnold as Real Madrid makes 2025 bid

Even though Trent Alexander-Arnold has been an icon throughout the years at his boyhood club, club legend Jamie Carragher called out the latter. Observing how the 26-year-old ‘forced’ a bid from the Los Blancos, Carragher put the blame on the defender.

Carragher wasn’t pleased with the way Trent’s camp encouraged a bid for him, only to ‘clear’ themselves when he eventually ends up leaving at the end of the season. Carragher spiritedly wrote on X that Liverpool’s priority should be to win the Premier League and that no player’s contract situation should come in the way of that.

Liverpool is currently sitting on an eight-point lead in the English top flight, with Nottingham Forest and Chelsea on its tail. Besides Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool also has to deal with the contractual complications of both Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.

Alexander-Arnold has been with Liverpool for the last nine seasons and has made 325 appearances in the process. His situation looks like he’s well on his way out of the club. Reports suggest that negotiations are still ongoing with the player.
