Real Madrid have been dealt a massive blow, with two key players set to miss out on their upcoming Clasico clash against arch-rivals FC Barcelona. Following their spectacular comeback against Dortmund, the club confirmed injuries to forward Rodrygo and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
The Los Blancos, most recently, celebrated their 5-2 comeback win over German giants Borussia Dortmund in the UCL, thanks to a brilliant hat-trick from Vinicius Jr. However, they will have to play a high price for the win, with two of their key players, Rodrygo and Thibaut Courtois, sidelined for their upcoming match against La Liga leaders FC Barcelona.
The Brazilian winger suffered a muscle injury during the game, with several reports pointing to a hamstring injury in his right leg. The severity of his injury is yet to be ascertained, as doctors are set to perform an MRI scan on his injured leg.

Courtois, on the other hand, suffered another muscle injury on his left abductor. He is set to be out of action for a few weeks, having previously suffered a similar injury during a match against Atletico Madrid earlier this season. Their absence will definitely derail manager Carlo Ancelotti‘s plans for their next few matches, as he might have to look for alternatives.

It remains to be seen who is picked by Ancelotti to replace the two stars in the Madrid lineup. Ukrainian starlet Andriy Lunin might come in for the injured Courtois, having shone last season. Meanwhile, the Italian manager could opt for Endrick or Arda Guler to replace Rodrygo.
Real Madrid receive positive injury update, ahead of much-awaited El Clasico
Real Madrid midfielder Brahim Diaz could make his return on time to feature for the club against Barcelona. The Moroccan attacking midfielder is swiftly recovering from an abductor injury, to the delight of fans.
Diaz had sustained an injury while playing for the club back in September, against Real Sociedad. He is said to be rushing his recovery to make a comeback against the Catalan giants, much ahead of his return time of three months.
Moreover, Brazilian winger Rodrygo’s injury provides the 25-year-old with an opportunity to start against Barca in case he returns to training by the end of the week. It would be a major boost to the Los Blancos, who need a win against their archrivals to reach level on points on top of the La Liga table. Real Madrid are second with 24 points, three behind Barcelona.
