What has been a relatively reticent transfer window for Liverpool may just light up like a meteor storming through the skies with the latest reports emerging of the Reds eyeing for Real Madrid star, Rodrygo. Alongside interest for Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, Liverpool has enquired about the Brazilian sensation with fears of him falling out of favor after the arrival of Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid.
Spanish outlet Fichajes has reported that Liverpool, spearheaded by their new manager, Arne Slot have emerged as one of the chief suitors of Rodrygo. However, the Reds aren’t the only suitor for the Brazilian mainstay at Santiago Bernabeu as Premier League champions, Manchester City have also joined the race to sign the Brazilian winger who can also slot in as a striker if needed.
Real Madrid has reportedly set a price of £77.5 million for Rodrygo and Liverpool believes that this may be within their grasp. Manchester City, on the contrary, is willing to splurge more on the Brazilian, particularly with reports of them selling Julian Alvarez for a monumental price swirling around the corner.
Rodrygo has been a mainstay in Carlo Ancelotti‘s side since 2019 but the arrival of Kylian Mbappe will force a handful of changes to the formation and that is exactly what has led to the fear of whether the Brazilian speedster will get regular gametime or not for Real Madrid in the upcoming season. With precarity looming large, the rumors of Liverpool and Manchester City hammering hard at his doorstep are accentuating themselves.
What is up next for Real Madrid?
Real Madrid has a massively gifted squad at their disposal featuring the starry names of Thibaut Courtois, Dani Carvajal, David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger, Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Luka Modric, Aurelien Tchouameni, Vincius Jr and obviously Kylian Mbappe. The European champions will be hoping to introduce a similar charge when they take the yard this season.
With their pre-season friendlies done, that saw them suffering defeats against AC Milan and Barcelona before finally coming up trumps against Chelsea, Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping for the team to turn the tide around when they kickstart the season with the UEFA Super Cup final against Atalanta followed by their opening fixture in the latest La Liga season against Mallorca.
