Real then opened the scoring in the 43rd minute through Mbappe himself, when the forward was set up with an easy tap-in, thanks to Vinicius Jr. Federico Valverde then doubled his side’s advantage on a night where he captained Real Madrid for the first time in his career.

The 21-year-old was in the right place at the right time to head home from a fortunate rebound off of Brahim Diaz‘s shot.
