Real Madrid’s negotiations with Sergio Ramos have come to a standstill; club expects captain to leave
Sergio Ramos’s contract renewal with Madrid has stopped as his contract is set to expire on June 30th. Real Madrid are crippling with a financial crisis and have asked all players to take a pay-cut.
Sergio Ramos is reportedly not ready to take a pay-cut in his new contract. He wants to become the club’s most paid player but the club has not accepted his demands.
Sergio Ramos has received offers from several clubs in Europe
This week Spanish radio station Onda Cero reported that Paris had offered Ramos a three-year deal worth €15million a season.
Josep Pedrerol, the presenter of the popular Spanish TV show El Chiringuito, has revealed that Madrid do not expect to hold on to Sergio Ramos beyond the end of his contract on June 30.
“Real Madrid have already made him an offer,” Pedrerol announced on El Chiringuito.
“Florentino [Perez] told him face to face in a hotel room what he could offer him. He asked him to reduce his salary by 10 percent, something that the club have asked the whole squad to do and that two players have already done. “This is not the case for Sergio Ramos, who has not agreed to a 10 percent reduction in his salary.”
“Since then, Ramos has said nothing. The club understand that Ramos is looking for that offer, he is working on a departure.
The 34-year-old has made 668 appearances for Madrid since signing from Sevilla back in 2005. Ramos could now leave for free in the summer and the players expect him to leave this summer.
Sergio Ramos is one of Real Madrid’s most important players at the moment. In his absence Real Madrid have looked shaky at the back and Madrid should consider acceding to his demands. He has become the leader of the group since Ronaldo’s departure.
