Real Madrid have been in imperious form over the past 2 weeks notching up important wins over difficult opposition. They have defeated Barcelona and Liverpool (twice) inside 8 days in La Liga and the Champions league and are now fighting for the double this season.

Real MAdrid will miss Nacho, Casemiro due to suspension for their next match against Getafe and Mendy suffered an injury late on Friday. Now Fede Valverde will miss out for the short trip to Getafe as he quarantines himself after coming in direct contact with a Covid patient.

Zidane’s managerial role in the Madrid squd has come to the fore as he has been proactive despite losing a number of players to injury over the course of these matches.

Los Blancos were already without injured Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Hazard and Carvajal for the run in to these games.

Lucas Vazquez had suffered a PCL tear in the El Clasico. Zidane used Fede Valverde as a make shift right back against Liverpool, a move which paid dividends as they drew 0-0.

Real Madrid’s statement read : “Real Madrid C. F informs that our player Fede Valverde has been in isolation since yesterday, Saturday 17 April, after being in direct contact with a person who has tested positive for Covid-19, although the player has tested negative in all the tests that he has undergone.

Real now have only 3 fit midfielders for their match against Getafe in Modric, Kroos and Isco. Zidane has already called up Castilla players Arribas and Blanco to fill in the gap at midfield.
