Spanish news outlet MARCA has reported that Manchester City had contacted Real Madrid in recent times. The English club offered Kyle Walker on loan to the Santiago Bernabeu till the end of the season. However, the reigning La Liga champions did not accept the opportunity to sign him on loan.

Walker has been one of the best right-backs in the world in the last few years. He rose to prominence during his spell at Tottenham. Since joining City in the summer transfer window of 2017, he has grown from strength to strength. Walker has been an integral part of City winning trophies over the years.

However, Kyle Walker has suffered a decline in form and pace in the ongoing 2024/25 season. He is now set to join AC Milan on loan till the end of the season. There is also a mandatory option for the Serie A club buying him permanently at the end of the season. Los Blancos also had the opportunity to secure his signing before AC Milan joined in.

Madrid needed a right-back this season after Dani Carvajal’s season-ending injury. Lucas Vazquez has struggled at the right-back spot, and Federico Valverde has been made to play out of position. Carlo Ancelotti‘s side had the opportunity to sign him on loan till the end of the season, but they chose not to do so. They are waiting for Trent Alexander-Arnold for free at the end of the season.

Real Madrid has identified Jhon Duran as the new striker to sign for the club

Kylian Mbappe has finally started to flourish as a striker at Real Madrid. However, the Merengues are still on the lookout of a natural number nine who can perform consistently for them. The Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran has attracted the interest of the reigning La Liga champions.

Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato has stated that Duran is one of the in-demand strikers in the transfer window, and Madrid has also entered the race to sign him. Duran has scored seven goals in 19 matches so far in the Premier League 2024/2025 season.

Overall, Duran’s goals scored per 90 minutes is 1.05. Moreover, his total G/A (goals + assists) is seven for this season. His goal involvement equates to 1.05 per 90 minutes. His non-penalty xG per 90 minutes is 0.96. This puts Jhon Duran’s npxG output at 6.45, which puts him in the top 99 percentile of Premier League players.

The report also states that if Madrid manages to convince him that he would get regular game time, then the move can be feasible. Villa will demand at least €60 million to sell their high-profile striker. It remains to be seen if the move goes through in the transfer window.
