It was debatable that Clash at the Castle was one of the best PLE of the year with so many outstanding matches. However, as every coin has two sides, fans also noticed some concerning things. Top stars like Jade Cargill and Damian Priest failed to execute a particular move that involved ropes. Because of their botches, many fans trolled them, but it looks like it wasn’t their fault.
During the match that kicked off the Clash at the Castle, the referee was seen telling AJ Styles about the rope being loose. Although there wasn’t much of a mishap during his match against Cody Rhodes, the referee’s warnings soon became visible. When Jade Cargill tried to enter the ring with a flashy springboard dive, she couldn’t balance herself and landed awkwardly.
The same thing happened in the main event match between Damian Preist and Drew McIntyre for the World Heavyweight Title. When he tried to hurt The Scottish Warrior with a middle-rope springboard move, his leg got caught up in the ropes. Thankfully, no superstar was injured due to this mishap, but there is no denying that it could’ve been dangerous.
There have been other instances of mishaps involving multiple superstars, such as the one where Rhodes and Carmelo Hayes failed to connect with each of their high-risk moves on SmackDown a while back. Another awkward mishap occurred when Randy Orton lost his footing during a match against Austin Theory.
Fans discussed WWE’s carelessness in not tightening up the ropes to avoid the botches
The WWE Universe was very critical of Priest and Cargill, and some even trolled them by saying they couldn’t wrestle. However, upon discovering that there was an issue with the ropes, they realized it wasn’t their fault after all. Many criticized WWE for not tightening the ropes after the first match, which could have prevented the botches.
One fan questioned why there would be a problem with the ropes in the first place and expressed concern about wrestlers’ health. Another fan stated that WWE should have canceled Big Jade and Priest’s high-risk moves if they knew about the ropes beforehand. Here are some of the top reactions from fans:
Meanwhile, one user assumed that the referee was telling Styles about the rope he’d be handcuffed in the end. Some fans were relieved that Bron Breakker didn’t run the ropes; otherwise, it would’ve been catastrophic. Overall, the majority of fans were happy that no wrestlers were harmed.
