Since it happened when the global star Taylor Swift appeared on the jumbotron, it sparked a whirlwind of debate across the internet, particularly given the backlash she faced last season for her NFL games appearances. But interestingly, the heavy booing was largely unrelated to her.

It turns out the Eagles rowdy fans engaged in a playful yet competitive cheer-and-boo game, where they would boo any Chiefs fans shown on the jumbotron and cheer for their own.
After some back-and-forth, the jumbotron shifted the focus to the celebrities present at the game. The “The Tortured Poets Department” singer happened to be the second celebrity shown and so the Eagles fans decided to continue their game, but unlike their jeers directed at the Chiefs fans, loud boos aimed at the global superstar garnered significant attention. So much so that even Kelce, who was on the field, noticed the uproar but found himself helpless.

The incident has broader cultural implications, as well as some commentators, have pointed out that the boos directed at Swift reflect a troubling undercurrent of misogyny and hostility towards women in sports.
