Referee fires on the football pitch after fight breaks out over red-card

In some shocking news, a football match referee pulled out a gun and fired in the direction of the footballers and the fans after the match in the United States of America. The incident which has since gone viral around the world took place in an amateur match in the western Honduran town of La Jigua.

The US referee named- Davi Bathez was later arrested by the police for shooting. It all started during the match when he had shown a direct red card for a player which had led to an argument on the pitch between the players and him.

The referee was latter taken in judicial custody by the police when he tried to flee in his car

As things began to escalate after the red card, the referee brought out the gun and shot one of the bullets into the ground apparently to protect himself from the wrath of the players and the supporters who had become involved in the incident.

After firing his gun, Bathez got into his car and sped off. Police quickly pulled the Oklahoma referee over to arrest him and obtained a .380 caliber pistol.

Pauls Valley Assistant Police Chief Derrick Jolley said that it was a miracle no one was hurt. “It is very dangerous. It could’ve been a very bad situation. You have families there, you have not only the adult spectators and players, but you have children in the area,” he added.

Incidents such as these are very rare on the football field, and the news instantly became viral and was all over the internet. However, this was not the first incident where a gun was brought on the football as it had happened in 2018 when Greece’s PAOK club owner was seen bringing a gun onto the field.

As fans, we hope that such incidents don’t happen in the future and officials and players are only seen with a football at their feet and not firearms or weapons of destruction.
