“Pass interference doesn’t apply to the Chiefs” – Referees’ bias towards Kansas City once again doesn’t sit well with NFL fans

Fans didn’t like the special treatment that the Chiefs have been getting from the NFL officials for the second game this season.

After watching the Sunday Night Football match, one significant question arises–Are the Kansas City Chiefs genuinely capable of pulling off three consecutive games against some of the strongest teams in the league, or are they just favorites of the NFL officials? Once again, the officials have come under scrutiny with the allegations of favoritism.

During the Chiefs’ road game against the Atlanta Falcons, the referees were allegedly biased towards the former, allowing them to go three-and-out on the next drivel. It happened during the fourth quarter when Atlanta quarterback Kirk Cousins aimed for a touchdown by connecting with tight end Kyle Pitts in the end zone on fourth down.

However, Chiefs safety Bryan Cook ended up making contact with Pitts even before he could catch the ball. This called for a defensive pass interference, but the referees decided to let it go and the Chiefs resulted in a 22-17 feat.

This game made quite some noise all around but not for the Chiefs’ third back-to-back victory, but about the referees’ bias towards them. Given, the season has just started, KC have been allegedly favored by the officials. Previously, in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Chiefs were favored in such a way that aided them into scoring a successful field goal, resulting in a narrow 26-25 victory.

Fan reaction to referees’ bias towards Kansas City

As expected, fans are not taking this favoritism anymore, and since Sunday night’s game, they didn’t wait to call out the referees. Fans didn’t like the special treatment of the four-time Super Bowl champions by the NFL officials for penalties that should be imposed on them, just like any other team across the league.

One fan taunted the NFL officials by writing, “Pass interference doesn’t apply to the Chiefs,” while another wrote, “We are once again asking for legitimate football.” Here are some of the fan reactions:

Some fans accused the NFL of “passing the torch” to the Chiefs now after the New England Patriots with Tom Brady, alleging that there’s always one team favored such intensely. Fans seem to have gotten fed up as they called the NFL ‘phony’ and not even hiding it anymore.

Perhaps, until the NFL takes action against the referees of the Sunday Night Game or becomes stricter towards the two-time defending Super Bowl champions, fans won’t back down.
