Rival fans have often complained about the referee’s leniency toward Kansas City Chiefs defenders and they were handed a new example to add to their collection. They seemed convinced that the referee missed a hip drop tackle from Chiefs Bryan Cook on a Houston Texans player.

Midway through the game in Kansas City on Saturday, Chiefs safety Bryan Cook tackled Texans tight end Dalton Schultz but in a bad manner. Cook grabbed Schultz from behind and yanked him down to the ground, almost like a gator in a swamp.

Schultz was genuinely surprised and then unhappy with the referee for ignoring Cook’s tackle.

Rival fans call out biased refereeing against Texans after he ignored a hip-drop tackle

Cook’s tackle on Schultz wasn’t anything new. There are several accounts of Chiefs players managing to evade penalties from the referee throughout the season. Even though rival fans continue to complain about the lackluster refereeing, the officials keep missing out on crucial moments that could potentially tip the tie against the Chiefs’ favor.

The Chiefs defensive back avoided serious penalties on that occasion, essentially providing them with a lifeline. Unfortunately for the Texans, the drive amounted to a missed field goal from Kai’mi Fairbairn.

Karma struck back at Cook. A short moment after the hip drop tackle on Schultz, he had a helmet-to-helmet collision with Texans wide receiver Nico Collins on a third and two after quarterback CJ Stroud hit him with a 14-yard pass.

After visiting the medical tent, he was taken to the locker room to see a neurologist, and perhaps he will be put on the concussion protocol. The second-round pick played all 17 games this season, racking up 78 total tackles, 5 pass deflections, and 2 interceptions.
