Regis Prograis exposed Jack Catterall’s manager, Sam Jones, during their latest pre-fight press conference. He took the brunt of charge, playing back an old message. Wherein he said that he believes Regis would “flatten” him! They meet in a feature headliner for DAZN pay-per-view soon.

That recording was before Sam became Jack Catterall’s manager. But he still thinks former two-time light-welterweight champion Prograis (29-2, 24 KOs) has Jack’s number. Catterall now knows Sam didn’t count his eggs in this basket before he became his manager. That has got to hurt a whole different level. The mind games are on and it shows.

A long time ago, Sam Jones, his manager, said I would beat Jack’s a**, and I got proof right now if y’all want to hear it. He said,’ Flatten him….Watch this. Listen, everybody, be quiet…[recording] ‘I like Jack, by the way. I know him very well, but I do think you flatten him. You’re a different guy than Josh Taylor’…

WBC, WBO, IBF, and WBA #2 Catterall (29-1, 13 KOs) hopes to use 35-year-old Prograis as his stepping stone to a world title shot. However, humanity (substitute for X-Space chatboards) has not been kind to the boxer. The boxing clique often dismissed him as a Brit-and-basic version of Shakur Stevenson. That is to so, he is a shelled-up boxer with all defense and more prone to holds. Even his wins don’t go smooth.

This was a big chance to build his PR momentum and rise up to IBF champion Liam Paro. However, when firing on all stems, Prograis is not just coming off as a better boxer. The New Orleans, Louisiana native is also not afraid to wear his duty of firing bold shots diligently. While some of his straight-shooting comes off as gimmicky, this one wasn’t. Given his momentum, there’s one particular person who is also veering his way to win.

Devin Haney picks Regis Prograis over Jack Catterall

Devin Haney has picked the underdog Regis Prograis to beat Jack Catterall in their DAZN pay-per-view light welterweight bout. The headliner takes place at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, England on Saturday 26 October.

Haney snagged one over him last year on December 9. His ballooning up after rehydrating was quite a controversial topic at the moment. However, the boxer has now chosen Prgrais to progress. If former WBC and WBC 140lb champion Regis Prograis can beat Catterall (29-1, 13 KOs), it will make ‘Dream’ look better. Haney won a unanimous 12-round decision over Prograis on scores of 120-107, 120-107, and 120-107.

That is because his career is an absolute dump now and he needs to have one in the box against someone that matters. The now-supplanted WBC super-lightweight lost a 12-round war against Ryan Garcia, back to 24-1-1 (20 KOs) at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Garcia came 3.2lbs over his hydration limit and hence much wear and tear was wringing him through the drug testing tool. Haney said that his marketability was affected by this loss.

It’s doubtful that Haney would want to fight Prograis again. He’ll be looking for a soft landing for his next fight after losing to Garcia by three wobbles on April 20th. However, to increase the stock of previous wins, he needs Prograis to be the better fighter now for his DAZN pay-per-view scrap.
