Renato Moicano was the betting underdog as he went into the fight against Julin Turner. As such, an overwhelming section of the MMA community picked against Moicano. The Brazilian had receipts as he dished it out after he secured a knockout victory over Turner. One of those who chose against him was Israel Adesanya.
Even more than Adesanya’s pick against him, what bothered him the most was Adesanya wrongly paraphrasing his post-fight speech at UFC Vegas 85. Adesanya, with Dan Hooker, provided predictions for UFC 300 YouTube channel, and it was when Adesanya wrongly paraphrased Moicano wanting to kick out immigrants from the USA.
When I say that to be a police officer, to kick all immigrants, man, how st*pid is that? If I was a police officer and I had to kick the immigrants, I would have to kick my family. Motherf**ker I'm an immigrant. We're from Brazil. My family is from Brazil. I'm not talking about that.Renato Moicano via Mone Moicano YouTube

Moicano clarified that he never said what Adesanya insinuated. The Brazilian revealed that he didn’t want to kick out immigrants but wanted to kill the bad people. Even though he didn’t like Adesanya, he appreciated Hooker for calling out Adesanya for the wrong paraphrase.
Interestingly, Adesanya and Moicano fought on the same card at UFC 281. Adesanya headlined the PPV with Alex Pereira, whereas Moicano fought Brad Riddell, Adesanya’s teammate, in the prelims. Adesanya suffered his first MMA middleweight defeat at UFC 281, whereas Moicano defeated Riddell. Furthermore, in his octagon interview after the victory, the charismatic character of “Money” Moicano was born.

After Renato Moicano fought Brad Riddell at UFC 281 in 2022, he did not fight in 2023 due to injuries. He returned at UFC Vegas 85 in 2024 with high expectations and a chip on his shoulder. However, the fight did not have any excitement due to the wrestling heavy style.

Nonetheless, the octagon interview delivered as he revealed that his father, at 62, has made his partner pregnant. Moreover, he expressed interest in doing the same to his wife. Moicano did not stop there as he revealed his plans in the USA.
I love America, you know. I'm not American, but I will be. My green card is three years in. Two years, I will be an American. And after I'm done with fighting, I will serve as a police officer. I want to be on the SWAT team, and I want to catch the bad guys.Renato Moicano at the UFC Vegas 85 Octagon interview

Moicano went on to cuss badly in the interview, which made Daniel Cormier glad that the fight was on ESPN+ and not ESPN. Moicano cussed after his previous victory at UFC 281, which caused the broadcast to mute him multiple times. Nevertheless, it was this post-fight interview with Cormier that Israel Adesanya wrongly paraphrased.
