Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz had a contrasting start to the season. Raducanu, since her third-round exit at the Australian Open, suffered first-round defeats in three consecutive tournaments she played.

Alcaraz, on the other hand, after his quarterfinal defeat to Novak Djokovic at the Melbourne Slam, lifted his first indoor hard-court event at the Rotterdam Open. The first seed beat third seed Alex de Minaur in three sets to take home the title.

Serena Williams‘ former coach Rennae Stubbs, while commenting on Raducanu’s performance, wondered if she and Alcaraz would join hands for the mixed doubles at the US Open. She made this prediction because of a major change to this year’s Major event at Flushing Meadows, as the mixed doubles events will be held a week before the singles and doubles main draw.

I wonder if Carlos Alcaraz will play with Raducanu in the mixed doubles at the US Open, anyways.

Stubbs also stated that if Raducanu offered her coaching role, she wouldn’t refuse. The four-time Grand Slam doubles champion said the first thing that she would do after becoming Raducanu’s coach is have a proper conversation with the Brit about what she wants in her game.

Rennae Stubbs is not a fan of Stefanos Tsitsipas’ views about women

Rennae Stubbs and Racquet Magazine founder Caitlin Thompson discussed Stefanos Tsitsipas‘ on-court performances. Stubbs recalled the Greek’s social media posts where he made controversial comments about gender roles. He had shared a post, stating that men and women should be ‘providers’ and ‘homemakers’ respectively.

Stubbs and Tsitsipas had engaged in a war of words in 2022. The 26-year-old, while reacting to entrepreneur Iman Gadzhi‘s X post, wrote about ‘modern feminism’ that ‘swerved from gender equality into a cult of outrage’. The Australian reacted to his post and questioned his knowledge about the topic. Tsitsipas, in response to the criticism, wrote that he didn’t believe in ‘patriarchy’.

I wish he hadn’t said the things he said about certain things couple of years ago. Basically, putting women as second citizens essentially. So, I’m just like, ‘Wake up, we’re in the 21st century.’

The two-time Grand Slam finalist had a mediocre season last year. He won just the Monte-Carlo Masters and dropped outside the top 10 for the first time since 2018. Tsitsipas suffered a first-round exit at this year’s Australian Open following which, he lost to Mattia Bellucci in the Rotterdam Open quarterfinals.
