In a piece of shocking news to many NFL fans, OJ Simpson passed away on 10th April 2024. He had been battling prostate cancer for a long time with the initial confirmation given in May 2023. Simpson was confident of overcoming the disease, but his chances were less given his advanced age.
Simpson had been a controversial figure for decades now. After being arrested on charges of murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. Right from the day of the murders to the court finding him not guilty, it was a case of global interest given the nature of the case.
While the court ruled him innocent, many still believed he indeed committed the crime. As a result, the general public opinion of him was always mixed. Following his demise, his fans paid tribute to him for his successful NFL career, owing to which he is often hailed as one of the greatest running backs in history.
While many, despite their dislike of the person, they still had sympathy for the demise of a person. But not for Serena Williams‘ former coach Rennae Stubbs. The doubles specialist has rarely shied away from sharing her opinion, irrespective of how it may be perceived. Similar was the case in her reaction to Simpson’s death.
I was in Miami @ a club a few yrs ago, in that club was OJ. People were taking pics with him (mostly men) walking around like no big deal & on his was out he walked past me & looked me up & down. I kid u not, I almost (puke emoji) ! He was a gross abuser of women & a killer! Rot in hell OJ.tweeted Rennae Stubbs

Many others were quick to support the former player. They made similar comments and didn’t show any sympathy.
Not many tennis players have so far reacted to the passing of Simpson. Elsewhere, Philadelphia Eagles star running back, Darius Slay, also faced a lot of heat for paying his tribute to Simpson’s demise.
