Youngster Jonathan Kuminga has been a name that has alarmed and alerted all the NBA teams this offseason. Kuminga’s strong stats in the NBA over the last few years have been a clear indication of the potential the current Golden State Warriors’ star possesses. Given that, the Warriors and Kuminga’s contract extension talks have stalled, leading to doubts over his future in Golden State.

This has also opened up the doors for the other NBA teams that are racing for his signature. Some of them are, reportedly, the Sacramento Kings and the Phoenix Suns. According to ESPN’s Marc J. Spears, the Suns have put an intriguing offer on the table. Initially, the Suns were offering Grayson Allen in exchange for Kuminga with a few second-round picks. It appears that they have updated their current offer.

According to the updated offer, Royce O’Neal, Nick Richards, and four second-round picks are reportedly part of the Suns’ current offer for Kuminga. A strong, big man, a competent wing defender, and significant draft compensation are all included in the offer.

Although recent events indicate the direction of the negotiations is still at a standstill. Perhaps the most attractive offer Kuminga will get in free agency is the $40 million, two-year offer from the Warriors. Shams Charania of ESPN, however, said that the Kings’ offer is a four-year, $90 million contract, despite having a comparable yearly salary.

However, it’s also important to note that while the Suns are interested in signing the Warriors’ Star, Kuminga, on the other hand, has given preference to the Sacramento Kings’ offer. This is because the Kings are offering him a direct starting role alongside Keegan Murray and Sabonis, as per Spears. It remains to be seen how this situation escalates in the coming days.

Jonathan Kuminga is interested in the Kings’ move over the Suns

While two teams in the Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings, are continuously battling it out for the signature of Jonathan Kuminga, it is important to note, as mentioned above, the Warriors star has given his preference to the Sacramento Kings, as per Marc J. Spears, mainly because the Kings have an important leverage over the Suns.

After trading their main star De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs last season, they have an important starting role available on their roster, which is tempting Kuminga at this stage.

He wants to go. The Kings are offering a starting spot at power forward next to Keegan Murray, next to Sabonis. He’s talked on a Zoom call with Scott Perry, BJ Armstrong, and also with the head coach. So he’s in. He wants to go there, but the Warriors don’t like the first.

Spears uses the word “first” to describe the Kings’ conditional first-round selection that is part of their deal. The Dubs have made their wants known in a trade involving the forward. Golden State might be unwilling to negotiate if they do not receive an unprotected first-round pick.

With the negotiations revolving around Jonathan Kuminga and the Warriors stalling with each passing day, it looks as if there may be no definitive decision soon.
