Brian Daboll has been designing a lot of run plays for rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart to take advantage of his elusive running style.

Knowing this season might be the one that will define their careers, New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen decided to pin their hopes on 3 QBs, Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, and rookie Jaxson Dart.
The hope was that the two veterans would bring some wins as the rookie learns behind them. However, those plans went moot after Wilson struggled mightily in the first 3 games.
Daboll then announced that Dart would be their starting QB for the remainder of this season. That change could not have been timed more perfectly, as under the rookie they went on to register two impressive wins. One was against the Los Angeles Chargers and the second against the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles.
Since then, they have lost 4 straight fixtures, with the latest another embarrassing one in which the Giants threw away the game despite holding a 10-point lead. Unlike their meltdown against the Broncos, this one was not completely on the defense’s shoulders.
I think what makes this Jaxson Dart injury so frustrating is that it was both preventable but also inevitable… You almost get the sense that the way the Giants have been coaching Dart and calling plays for Dart is an act of self-preservation. Doing everything they can risking Dart to make sure that Daboll stays on the sideline, and Joe Schoen stays in the GM’s chair.

As someone whose very job is to cover the Giants, Connor J Hughes believes Jaxson Dart’s latest concussion is a result of Brian Daboll’s decisions. Hughes believes Daboll is risking the rookie QB’s health to keep his job.
Jaxson Dart’s concussion could see him miss at least Week 11 game
Last season, opposing quarterback Caleb Williams was the subject of numerous hits. This year, it seems Jaxson Dart has taken over that role. Unlike the 2024 Bears, the Ole Miss star’s hits can’t be blamed solely on offensive line breakdowns.

Dart ran 6 times, scoring two touchdowns in the process. The Giants were leading 17-7 at this point in the 3rd quarter. On a 2nd and 6, the rookie QB ran towards his left and was tackled by CJ Gardner-Johnson to the ground.
Dark took that hit as he was trying to gather the football after the Bears had poked it out of his hands. He was slow to get up and walked off before returning in the 4th quarter.

After a couple of plays and another brutal hit from the Bears’ defensive line, he was taken off the field and sent to the medical room to get assessed.

Soon, it was revealed that he had suffered a concussion and, therefore, would miss their Week 11 home game against the Green Bay Packers.
Brian Daboll confirms Jaxson Dart was not checked for a concussion after first hit
After Jaxson Dart was sidelined, the Giants still had a 10-point lead. However, Russell Wilson could not do much, and the Chicago Bears took advantage to score 14 points to win the game.
After the game, head coach Brian Daboll was asked if the team’s medical staff had checked Dart for a concussion after taking the hit on the 3rd quarter fumble.
No. No, he wasn’t.
Brian Daboll replied
The 50-year-old then tried to defend his staff by suggesting that after Dart went back in, someone from the medical staff suggested that they should not put the QB back into the game.

In hindsight, that would seem vague, as they could have decided after the 1st hit. This seems to be a repeat of the incident a few weeks ago, for which Daboll and the Giants were fined.
It seems Connor J Hughes came to his conclusion about the head coach’s decisions based on what he has witnessed over the past few games.
