Veteran ESPN sideline reporter Lisa Salters accidentally addressed Travis Kelce as rapper Travis Scott while interviewing Patrick Mahomes after the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Washington Commanders 28-7 at Arrowhead Stadium. Mahomes ignored the honest mistake and continued to answer Salters’ questions.

Kelce sat on 82 career regular-season touchdowns ahead of the Week 8 fixture against the Commanders. Despite being in top form in the last two outings, the 36-year-old experienced a rough start on Monday night. His fumbled catch handed the Commanders their first turnover and Mahomes’ third interception of the year.

He gradually made more impact as time went on. Four minutes into the second half, Mahomes found Kelce near midfield. Kelce made a couple of defenders miss and gained 38 yards before being forced out of bounds.

Eight minutes later, Mahomes found Kelce wide open inside the Washington red zone for a 10-yard touchdown pass. With this touchdown, Kelce equaled legendary running back Priest Holmes‘ record of 83 career regular-season scores as a Chiefs player.

ESPN reporter Lisa Salters asked Mahomes to describe his feelings on Kelce achieving yet another personal milestone. However, instead of saying Kelce, Salters accidentally addressed the 3x Super Bowl champion as the famous rapper Travis Scott.

Travis Scott tied the touchdown record. He told me before the game what it would mean to him.

Mahomes did not correct or react to Salters’ mistake. He kept his poker face on and answered her question.

That’s the true Chiefs of Chiefs. He’s the guy that was here before me, set the culture, he’s the guy that’s in the building early. in the building late and he’s the leader of the team. To be able to get record tying… Let’s go out there and break it now.

Travis Kelce cements yet another touchdown record

Tying with one of the greatest Chiefs of all time wasn’t the only milestone Kelce reached on Monday (October 27). According to ESPN research, Kelce became only the fourth tight end in NFL history to record 100 career touchdowns (including the regular season and the playoffs).

After putting up a 6-reception, 99-yard, and 1 score performance, which helped the Chiefs improve their season’s tally to 5-3, Kelce joined Scott Van Pelt on SportsCenter. The veteran ESPN contributor congratulated Kelce for writing his name among some of the great TEs.

With the pleasantries out of the way, Van Pelt cheekily brought up retirement rumors that engulfed him this past offseason.

[Recognizing] that not a whole lot of runway is left, right? It’s important, isn’t it, to maintain your spot right here.

Scott Van Pelt asked Kelce

By now, Kelce has dealt with numerous questions about retiring from football, just like his older brother. Similar to the other occasions, Kelce expertly dealt with SVP’s query as well.

100% man. I see my guy Zach Ertz out here today. We both came in 2013, tight ends baby, I love Zach forever man, he had a helluva run in Philly over there and he’s still doing today man… We are cherishing every single one of these games, man, not knowing how long we’ll be able to do this.

Kelce still has nine more games to overtake Holmes and become the sole franchise leader in touchdowns. For now, he has accumulated 37 receptions from 48 targets for 474 yards and 3 touchdowns in eight games.
