Aaron Glenn’s fourth game as the New York Jets head coach ended with 13 penalties, being flagged 16 times for 101 yards in a 21-27 defeat to the Miami Dolphins. Glenn wasn’t happy at the final whistle.
Monday night’s fixture at Hard Rock Stadium began with a fumble from running back Braelon Allen. The second-year rusher lost the ball once again during a kickoff return that ended his evening. A later report revealed that he may have suffered a high-grade LCL sprain.
Allen wasn’t the only one with loose fingers. Quarterback Justin Fields had to be saved by his teammates after he fumbled during a designed run play. Isaiah Williams wasn’t so lucky. He coughed up the ball during the opening kickoff return in the second half.
To rub salt on the open wounds, the referee overturned a Garrett Wilson touchdown, citing offensive pass interference. Wilson eventually scored a touchdown right at the end, but it mattered little in the outcome.
Glenn wasn’t pleased with his team’s performance, as they are one of the three winless teams (the Saints and Titans are the other two) in the league after four games. The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt tweeted that he and the reporters could hear Glenn screaming at his players in the locker room.
Aaron Glenn in the postgame locker room was yelling loud enough for us to hear him in the press conference room.

Glenn addressed the elephant in the room while standing on the podium.
It was very disappointing… There’s no way you can win any game with 13 penalties and three turnovers. It just can’t happen. What we have to do is go back to work. That’s the only way we can fix it. We are gonna take a look at these penalties and these turnovers and make sure that we have to understand before we can win games, you have to learn how not to lose games, and we have to do a better job in that case.

With the loss, Glenn joined Lou Holtz and Adam Gase as the only two previous Jets coaches to start with a 0-4 record. Holtz resigned after going 3-10, and Gase was fired following multiple negative seasons (7-9 and 2-14).
Aaron Glenn is the first first-year #Jets coach to start 0-4 since Adam Gase.

Gase got his first win against the #Cowboys in Week 5. Sam Darnold’s return from mono.

Running back Breece Hall, who contributed 14 carries for 81 yards, claimed that the Jets shot themselves in the foot.
It’s just a tale of three out of our four losses. Teams will shoot themselves in the foot, and we come back and shoot ourselves in the head. We can’t win, you know, if offensively, we’re not converting on third downs, fourth downs.

Mike Greenberg lashes out at Aaron Glenn for the Jets’ losing start to the campaign
It’s no longer a secret that ESPN Get Up presenter Mike Greenberg is a massive Jets sympathizer. He was overjoyed after the franchise replaced Robert Saleh with Glenn, who played for the Jets back in the day.

The Jets’ front office envisioned Glenn implementing a similar no-nonsense defensive scheme that garnered praise in Detroit. However, it only took four games for the Jets faithful to start asking questions of Glenn’s credibility as a head coach.
You’re either coaching it or allowing it to happen. Aaron Glenn has a crisis on his hands four games in. Team is sloppy, undisciplined, and poorly prepared. All the things he insisted would be cleaned up. It’s on him to get it fixed, fast. Because right now, they’re a joke.

The Jets haven’t been to the playoffs in 14 years, and if the losing streak keeps up, then the drought might extend further. If they are serious about getting back to winning ways, then there’s no better team to do so against than the Dallas Cowboys, who are number one in points scored and last in giving up points.
