The New York Giants have been rolling from one controversial decision to another as their season is set to blow up in their faces. Letting go of Saquon Barkley and a couple of more impactful players to now the way they treated Daniel Jones. All of that made former NFL head coach Rex Ryan livid earlier today.

GM Joe Schoen came under fire the moment the episode featuring him on NFL Hard Knocks reached the public. Everyone saw how he let go of Barkley and also did not listen to his son, who suggested that he draft Jayden Daniels.

The New York Giants moving up to No. 2 was going to be expensive if they wanted Daniels. But Barkley’s monster performances for the Philadelphia Eagles have put the spotlight back on the third-year GM. Now question marks are being raised on whether Schoen blew the team up for nothing.

Rex Ryan has seen his fair share of GMs in his career. Watching the way Schoen and the Giants handled Daniel Jones’ exit was too much to take. Add to that, Malik Nabers‘ latest comments meant something isn’t right in MetLife Stadium. While on Get Up, the ESPN analyst decided to let loose.

The little Giants stink. When you let Daniel Jones walk out, great message to send to the locker room. You got exactly what you deserve. That team looked like they had no energy. Don’t tell me the players gave up on you, you gave up on them when you made this move.

Rex Ryan said on Get Up

The former Jets head coach did mention that along with Barkley, the Giants let go of current NFL interceptions leader Xavier McKinney and impact veteran rusher Leonard Williams last season. Ryan feels all those moves have been detrimental for the Giants.

Giants worst mistake was letting go of generational Saquon Barkley

The Daniel Jones affair has been a pretty bad look for the New York Giants. Joe Schoen first signed him to $160 million contract based on one decent season. Then to back it up by not selecting from one of the elite quarterbacks available in this past draft was a bigger mistake.

However, nothing was bigger than letting go of Saquon Barkley. When the star running back left his hometown team, many thought it was a continuation of the league’s disinterest in paying running backs their worth. But the Philadelphia Eagles came in to handsomely pay the two-time Pro Bowler.

The 27-year-old has repaid their faith in as he has put up elite performances game after game. The latest one, a 302 total yards from scrimmage, was the icing on the cake. There was no guarantee that Barkley would have had similar numbers for the Giants.

But even then, his running would have helped the offense in a myriad of ways. In addition to that, his leadership in the locker room was another major aspect that could have mitigated the likes of Nabers speaking his mind out. It seems the New York Giants and particularly Joe Schoen have fumbled it badly.
