Rex Ryan once again pitched himself as the next head coach of the New York Jets. From his point of view, there’s no one more suited for the job than him because he has the Jets essence burning inside of him.
Following a tumultuous start, owner Woody Johnson fired Robert Saleh as the head coach, and they currently find themselves languishing at the bottom with a 3-8 record. On top of it, veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ decline is quite visible.
Regardless, the team still has talents like Garrett Wilson, Braelon Allen, and Sauce Gardner. Rex Ryan complained that the Jets are wasting such players.
The 61-year-old considers Johnson a close friend and promised to change the locker room around and bring the attitude back in the players, which they lack.

Rex Ryan is waiting for a chance with the Jets
The duo of Jeff Ulbrich and Todd Archer presently handle the Jets coaching affairs after Robert Saleh’s departure. However, with the recent string of results, it’s clear they will not be around for very long.
Johnson will eventually have to appoint a new head coach. Ryan asserted that he is the fit for it because he believes in second chances.
Ryan coached the Jets for six years, from 2009 to 2014. He boasted a 46-50 record but had four winning seasons and even led the Jets to the AFC Championship game twice.
Later, he also served as the head coach of the Buffalo Bills in 2015-16. He also had a spell as the defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens. Ryan is one of the prime candidates to become the Jets head coach in 2025, alongside Mike Vrabel (former Titans head coach), Aaron Glenn (ex-Jets player and current Lions defensive coordinator), and Ben Johnson (Lions offensive coordinator).
