Throughout this season, whenever questions have been raised about Mike McCarthy’s coaching style or his role in the Dallas Cowboys’ disappointing season, owner Jerry Jones has consistently defended his head coach. Despite Jones’s statements, some believe McCarthy’s time with the Cowboys may soon be coming to an end.

After suffering a disastrous loss against divisional rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, in Week 10, the Cowboys’ playoff hopes appear blurrier than ever as they sink to a 3-6 record. With little hope left for the team this season, ESPN analyst Rex Ryan already proposed a prominent name to replace McCarthy next season amid speculations of Deion Sanders leaving Colorado next year.

Considering his success in college football, head coach-turned-analyst Ryan believes if there’s anyone who can bring back the glory days in Dallas, it’s Sanders.

They’ve got to restart, but they got to do something, like how are you going to fix it? Deion Sanders may be in play here. They need something. They need someone that has the pride in that damn organization. Being a Dallas Cowboy and the pride you take in it. And by the way, Deion in everywhere he has been has been kicking you know what.

The season before Coach Prime joined the Colorado Buffaloes as head coach, they had recorded their worst-ever record at 1-11. Kudos to Sanders, though, for turning things around and leading them to bowl eligibility this season, with the team on its way to becoming Big 12 contenders.

Jerry Jones stands firm on no plans to fire Mike McCarthy mid-season

Meanwhile, the 82-year-old Cowboys owner remains uninterested in firing head coach McCarthy, despite the team’s four-game losing streak and third-place standing in the NFC East division. After the disappointing loss, Jones addressed questions about McCarthy’s future with the team in the post-game press conference.

Mike is a heck of a coach. [He] has and should have the opportunity to do better than we’re playing right now. I haven’t had good experience changing coaches in the middle of the season.

Jerry Jones said as per The Athletic‘s Jenna West, Jon Machota, and Saad Yousuf

The Cowboys owner revealed that he deeply regretted firing Wade Phillips in the middle of the 2010 season. That’s why, even if the Cowboys collapse completely, Jones will certainly not replace McCarthy mid-season. This means Ryan’s prediction might come true only if the Billionaire owner listens to fans this offseason.
