RFK Racing was one of the biggest names in the NASCAR sphere during the 2000s. The team has won more than 100 races and has two Cup Series titles accredited to its name. With such large trophy cabinets, the team has often been at the epicenter of sponsors, and now Kroger is in the mix to try and get their branding on the North Carolina-based team.

Kroger has been a firm sponsor for various drivers in NASCAR. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is sponsored by the retail giant that. However, Kroger is reported to be interested in becoming a primary sponsor and the retail business shortlisted multiple teams in the Cup Series to continue its expansion.

According to Sports Business Journal, RFK Racing seems to be the prime candidate for becoming the bearer of the brand’s branding. Moreover, it is slated that if Brad Keselowski‘s co-owned team finalizes the deal with Kroger, then the racing team could get another charter listed to their name and expand the team’s operation.

RFK Racing reveals the adversities that the teams have to face

Before the financial crisis of 2008, teams used to pool funding from sponsors helping them stay afloat. However, since the introduction of the charter system and a change in the global world, this split has reduced and has caused the teams to generate other revenue sources, causing a headache for the team’s personnel to manage the BOP.

Stressing how much sponsorship money helps the team, RFK Racing’s vice president of partnership sales asserted that the state of sponsorship in the championship is pretty dire. Moreover, with the increasing demand for social media, their workload has increased multiplefold as other teams have become open to increasing sponsor numbers.

While Kroger’s sponsorship cheque could help the team resolve capital issues. However, there is still no blueprint for how the brandings would be placed as Keselowski already has multiple sponsors, complexing things up. Thus, a few intricacies of the deal are yet to be finalized, but a mutual agreement is understood to have taken place between the two parties.
