Winning a T20 World Cup is a feat from the heavens itself and when the unthinkable has been pulled, one ought to celebrate the moment in the grandest ways possible. As Team India clinched the T20 World Cup on Saturday night, the celebrations knew no bound. While heading to the champions board where the trophy awaited, Rohit Sharma pulled off a similar walk as iconic wrestler, Ric Flair would do in his heydays.
Much to Rohit Sharma‘s astonishment, the man himself posted a video of Sharma pulling off that iconic entrance of his where he said that it was a move straight from his playbook. A few reports state, however, that Sharma actually wanted to emulate Lionel Messi‘s celebrations but then ended up doing the ‘wooo’ walk.
Given the context of the Indian triumph in the grandest stages of all, Team India managed to secure the T20 World Cup after a staggering 17 years. When they first won it back in 2007, Sharma played a crucial part in that fray by scoring a half-century against South Africa before clobbering another important knock in the final against Pakistan.

Since then India has come close to winning an ICC trophy multiple times but sadly enough, things have not worked for the Men in Blue. Under Sharma’s captaincy, Team India reached the semis of the 2022 T20 World Cup but they stuttered in the semis against England. They reached the WTC final in 2023 and lost it against Australia.
The woes amplified themselves for India when they reached the 2023 World Cup final unbeaten and yet faltered in the final hurdle where Australia edged past them after a modest display from their batters. No wonder, this show from Team India and that too after the match almost slipping away in the grand finale, the occasion called for a very special celebration and who better than Ric Flair to emulate?
A glance at Team India’s run in the T20 World Cup
India started the latest edition of the tournament with a win against Ireland and then extended their unbeaten run by pulling off a second win against Pakistan. Then the hattrick of wins was registered as they went onto edge past USA despite an early jitter.
They started the Super Eight with a bang as they blew away Afghanistan before setting their sights on Bangladesh. After conquering Bangladesh, Australia was the next in line to fall. Then in the semis, India got the better of England, who knocked out India from the 2022 T20 World Cup before finally braving South Africa to life the hallowed silverware.
