The WWE Universe know Ricardo Rodriguez as Alberto Del Rio’s manager and ring announcer. But prior to this role, Rodriguez aspired to be a wrestler himself. He had no formal training in wrestling, but learnt it by imitating Impact matches in a backyard boxing ring.

Rodriguez mentions that networking is the most crucial factor to get ahead in the wrestling industry. He had worked behind-the-scenes in the adult film industry, which helped him socializing and networking. Rodriquez believes this helped him in socializing in the wrestling industry too.

He soon signed with WWE. His most special experience was announcing for Alberto Del Rio at Wrestlemania 27. Del Rio and Edge had wrestled for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, where the Rated-R Superstar emerged victorious.

While he never got to wrestle at WWE, but he had his highlight moment at TLC 2011. Del Rio was battling The Miz and CM Punk in a triple threat Tables, Ladders and Chairs match. Rodriguez climbed the ladder and Punk pushed the ladder. Rodriguez went crashing through two tables from the top of the ladder. For many fans, it was the highlight of the event.

After Rodriguez left managing Del Rio, he managed some other WWE wrestlers. He then joined their Spanish commentary team, but left the company in 2014. Upon being asked if he would return to WWE in the future, he mentions that he did not leave on good terms.

He still regrets saying things that he shouldn’t have. Rodriguez was angry and bitter from WWE nad had demanded to be released. He had a substance abuse problem then. But he did mention that if an opportunity to work for WWE backstage arises, he would be overjoyed to do it.
