Heading into the weekend, the news that stunned the NFL world was when the Seattle Seahawks traded away quarterback Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders. In a move that reunites the veteran QB with head coach Pete Caroll, his new team gets a dependable QB for their immediate future.
The Raiders were looking at multiple veteran quarterbacks ever since Carroll took over. Minority owner Tom Brady was rumored to have met Matthew Stafford to try and get him to the franchise. But that door closed soon enough.
Now, they have avoided entering into a bidding war for the likes of Sam Darnold or others by trading for a known entity in Geno Smith. This news reached franchise great Richard Sherman, whose initial reaction was a question rather than excitement.
Wow. Trading Geno?! Must be a plan that we don’t know about.

His words were a shot at the Seattle Seahawks, who have moved in a completely different direction under head coach Mike MacDonald. Sherman was already annoyed that they bizarrely fired Pete Carroll to make way for the unproven MacDonald.

Then the new head coach tried to instill his own vision, which again irked the former All-Pro cornerback. Last year, he asked if it was necessary to remove murals of past accomplishments. Murals remind new players what they have to achieve to be considered equal to the greats. But MacDonald chose to go a different way.
Richard Sherman takes shots at Seahawks while answering fans on Geno Smith trade
Once the 36-year-old posted this tweet on his official X page, fan comments started pouring in. Usually, athletes or celebrities may answer one or two of those fan replies. But in Sherman’s case, he went all in. The former Super Bowl champion commented on a lot of fan replies, correcting them in some cases.

In others, he continued to troll the Seattle Seahawks, questioning the logic of letting go of Geno Smith, further saying, “Going to be tough with that defense. Losing games doesn’t make for winning culture.” He also asked how the franchise is moving forward after letting go of two of their starting wide receivers. Sherman believes the franchise has not fixed the issues that actually plagued them last season.

So now pay Sam Darnold 40m?

Running the same offense doesn’t mean the same results.

Is that a better player than Geno right now? Behind this Oline is his effectiveness the same?

Lmao well I guess you are about to get something else. Then you will appreciate what you had.

Was it? They will likely have to pay his replacement more money than he was being paid.

Dangerous game to play with unknowns.

Putting a lot on a rookie while potentially losing 2 of your top 3 WRs?

In short, Richard Sherman believes the Seattle Seahawks are making roster moves that do not make sense. They are not doing anything that will move them forward and on to a winning path. Now instead, they are helping other teams become better.
It is not sure if the Las Vegas Raiders will still select a QB with their No. 6 overall pick. All season long, rumors linked them to Shedeur Sanders. With Smith joining them, they get a quarterback for their immediate future.
