With the NFL MVP race heating up, there have been many top players advocating for the prestigious honor. However, Richard Sherman surprised many by naming a quarterback he believes not only deserves to be in the MVP conversation but should also win the award– Joe Burrow

While talking about the thrilling matchup between the MVP top contender Jared Goff’s Detroit Lions against Jordan Love’s Green Bay Packers, the sports analyst couldn’t help but mention the Cincinnati Bengals’ Burrow for the MVP honor. While the Bengals’ downfall of 4-8 can hardly be ignored, Sherman argued that Burrow has been having a stellar season individually.

After contemplating well on the backlash his support for Burrow in the MVP conversation can attract, the five-time Pro Bowler highlighted the signal-caller is leading the league in touchdowns (30) –which is one more than the reigning MVP Lamar Jackson’s stats.

Statistically, look, Joe Burrow should be the MVP. His team has just let him down. He’s got 30 touchdowns, five interceptions. You can say what you want. You can boo what you want. The numbers are the numbers.”

Interestingly, the Bengals quarterback’s stats this season are even better than the Lions’ star Goff, who has the fourth-best odds of winning the honor. He posted 3265 yards with 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions with the Lions’ 12-1 season, Burrow threw for 3337 yards with 30 touchdowns and only 5 interceptions with the Bengals’ 4-8 season.

Joe Burrow aside, Jared Goff makes history during 11-game winning streak

Since being traded to the Lions, Goff’s transformation has been phenomenal. After successfully leading his team to two playoff victories before losing to the San Francisco 49ers in the Conference championship, he has shown the same consistency this season and made the Lions Super Bowl favorites.

In his most recent victory, which marked their 11-game winning streak, the two-time Pro Bowler made history by becoming the first player to complete passes to six or more different receivers with each catching at least five, in a single game.

The biggest reason behind the Lions’ success this season has been the deadly passing game equipped with the strongest group of weapons. After clinching a spot in the playoff consecutively for the second time, the Lions are aiming to shatter the Kansas City Chiefs’ three-peat, who have the third-best chance at making history.
