Ex-racer claims “a big motherload worth billions” is waiting for a competitive female driver in NASCAR

Motorsports has always been a male dominated sport and premier stock car racing series NASCAR is no difference. Over the years there has been a handful of female racers that has produced some good races in the sport, but has never been able to establish themselves as the driver capable of securing race wins.

The most recent example of female drivers not fulfilling their potential is Hailie Deegan. The rookie lost her No:15 Chevy Xfinity Series race seat at AM Racing last week due poor performance streak.  Rick Mast while discussing on the same in the recent episode of his podcast for Kenny Wallace’s YouTube channel.

During the discussion he pointed out that if a female racer can break the barriers and be competitive in the sport, she can become a superstar unlike anyone ever been in NASCAR. Mas reckons the team and the sponsors of that racer can also cash in big-time on the success.  But he is unsure if that will veer happen.

That particular driver, the team owner, the team that invested in that person, the people that got behind them, they're all...it'd be like mining for gold, and all of a sudden you hit the big motherload worth billions – it's the same way with a female driver. And to this point, that hasn't happened. Will it ever happen? Hell, I don't know.

Rick Mast doesn’t think the NASCAR stint of Hailie Deegan isn’t over yet

Mast later went on to discuss the career crossroads Deegan has found herself in. He pointed out that she was supposed to be the next superstar of the sport but unfortunately it didn’t happen. But he is hopeful that Deegan might be able to get a chance and eventually become the next big deal.

The deal with Hailie? She’s the next young female star that we’re going to promote and try to make work or make happen. And guess what? It didn’t happen. Or to this point, it hasn’t happened, not saying it’s over for her. Hopefully s,he’ll be the next big deal, but so far it hasn’t happened.

Hailie Deegan can get back to being competitive if she is able to get a seat with a team that has some experience under their belt. It would be interesting to see where will Deegan go next with her career on the line.
