“An absolute legend” – MLB fans SHOWER tribute as 10x All-Star Rickey Henderson passes away at 65

On Friday, the MLB world lost one of its finest stars as 10-time All-Star Rickey Henderson passed away. The American international left for his heavenly abode at the age of 65.
In his amazing 25-year career, Henderson played for nine teams across the MLB and established himself as one of the greatest hitters of the game. His base stealing abilities earned him the nicknamed of “Man of Steal.”
The Hall of Famer holds the record for the most stolen bases in MLB history with 1,408. In 12 seasons, he was the league’s stolen bases leader. During the 1982 campaign, he set the record for the most steals in a single season with 130.
During his legendary career, the outfielder had four stints with the Athletics, with whom he spent 14 years and won the 1989 World Series. Apart from the A’s, Henderson represented the New York Yankees, the Toronto Blue Jays, San Diego Padres, the Los Angeles Angels, the New York Mets, Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres, Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Across a 25-year career, Henderson was a 10-time All-Star, 3-time Silver Slugger Award winner, 2-time World Series champion and the 1990 American League MVP.

In 2009, he received a total of 94.8 percent votes and was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame. During the A’s last game at the Coliseum Stadium in Oakland, Henderson threw out the first pitch along with another team legend Dave Stewart. In a statement released by the Athletics, the team hailed him as one of the greatest baseball players of all time.

Henderson retired from the league in 2003 as a two-time World Series winner. Apart from the stolen bases record, he also holds the record for the most runs in MLB with 2,295. The Athletics would later retire his No.24 jersey.
