WWE Legend Criticizes Jey Uso’s Creative Plans for Money in the Bank 2025
Jey Uso will compete in a tag team match at Money in the Bank and it hasn't sat well with his legendary father, who has offered to book for his son on WWE's behalf.

Next weekend in Los Angeles, WWE will stage its annual Money in the Bank premium live event. Set as the main event for the show is a tag team match featuring World Heavyweight Champ Jey Uso & Cody Rhodes up against Undisputed WWE Champ John Cena & Logan Paul. That being said, WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi isn’t over the moon about it.
The wrestling great’s pet peeve mostly pertains to WWE stuffing his son, who’s the reigning world champ, into an all-star tag team showdown at Money in the Bank. Speaking on his Off the Top podcast, Rikishi even offered to book Uso’s creative by himself. He opined on ‘The Yeet Master’s recent title defense against Logan Paul.
…….Paul’s got heat and this’ll probably be his biggest spotlight in WWE, and they’re both young, sh*t, come on now. So now you beat Paul and now where you go, into a tag team bout?

Rikishi believes that he wouldn’t have booked their clash at Saturday Night’s Main Event like WWE did. The former Too Cool member said that he would’ve allowed the rivalry to boil over and rather culminate in a gimmick match, like a steel cage one. The 400-pound-plus Samoan wonder noted that The Maverick is a natural heel, and the spotlight would’ve landed on Uso and Paul if WWE had decided to let them have another go at each other.

“Why? I mean Jey is a world heavyweight champion by himself, okay…oh, they really need to fire creative service over there now. Just book me so I can book my son’s matches out there. Like I mean okay… pic.twitter.com/csaNp4SuCK
Rikishi had been pretty vocal about his son’s booking in WWE over the past year or so. In fact, he went on an unhinged tirade at Vince Russo, an ex-WWE lead writer, for mocking Uso’s emotional demeanor in the promo he cut after winning the Intercontinental Championship in October 2024.
Jey Uso braces up for Gunther after Money in the Bank
No matter if he ends up on the winning side or not at Money in the Bank, Jey Uso has a tall task ahead. Merely a couple of nights after it, the former Bloodline member will defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Gunther on Raw. The latter has been in a state of despair ever since tapping out to the 39-year-old at WrestleMania in April.

Having had to go through the ignominy at the grandest stage, ‘The Ring General’ is hellbent on regaining what he let go of—the world title. Uso vs. Gunther is going to be even more interesting with a certain Mr. Money in the Bank lurking to seize his moment if the opportunity presents itself. The fans will be aware of the MITB contract holder by the time these polar opposites lock horns on June 9.
It could either be Seth Rollins, LA Knight, Solo Sikoa, Andrade, Penta, or TBD. The last competitor in the ladder match will be determined this Monday, with CM Punk, AJ Styles, and El Grande Americano set for an MITB qualifier. The world title scene is about to heat up. It’d be interesting to see if Gunther ends up curtailing Uso’s reign or not.
Jey Uso does have rich doubles history alongside Cody Rhodes
Next weekend won’t be the first instance of Jey Uso joining forces with Cody Rhodes. In fact, the duo has won tag team gold together. Back in 2023, the red-hot crowd favorites stunned Damian Priest and Finn Balor at WWE Fastlane. It was the opening match of the night and by far become the show-stealer.

Rhodes and Uso would then go on a hilarious spree during the post-show press conference. The two were allegedly intoxicated and it made the occasion even more hilarious with their witty remarks. It’d be interesting to see if they could translate that energy in the ring at Money in the Bank.
‘The Yeet Master’ does have a bone to pick with John Cena, who attacked him at Saturday Night’s Main Event just when he was about to dispatch Logan Paul. Uso would get the backing of The American Nightmare, who has his own differences with Cena.
