Dan Orlovsky pitched-in in the recent controversy surrounding the misinterpretation of the gender of Algerian boxer Imane Khelif. However, he quickly deleted his tweet, citing his responsibility as a representative of ESPN. In response, Riley Gaines criticized ESPN’s policies.

The ESPN NFL analyst, Dan Orlovsky, recently showed up on twitter asking people to protect the daughters of the nation in context to the rumors surrounding supposed trans-inclusivity in women’s sports. However, he later deleted the tweet after getting heat at the social media platform. With the intent of reasoning, he spoke to Barret Media, saying that one had to represent themselves and the company they worked for in a certain manner.

When you’re an employee of a big company, your social media page doesn’t just get to be your social media page. That’s a fantasy, so you have to represent yourself and the company that you work for in the proper way.
Dan Orlovsky said in a conversation with Barret Media

In response to Orlovsky’s admission, former American competitive swimmer Riley Gaines took a shot at his statement on her X account. She claimed that ESPN would have had no problem had he tweeted in favor of protecting trans youth.

She called the media platform out on their opposing suggestion in the matter of protecting young girls. ESPN has been on the hot seat on the matter these past few days after they fired Sam Ponder, their only employee who openly spoke about such issues without backing off on her stance. The move surely added fuel to the fire.

While Dan Orlovsky might not have been necessarily addressing his now-deleted tweet in his statement, people still do not buy it. This is especially true as his fellow co-workers at ESPN continue to post personal, and sometimes controversial, opinions on their social media accounts.

Riley Gaines lashed out at the ‘glorified male violence against women’

Riley Gaines blasted the Olympic committee on their admission of an athlete who failed two gender eligibility tests. As a result, Khelif’s opponent, Angela Carini, forfeited the bout seconds after getting hit on the face. Gaines is an ex-college swimmer and a longstanding advocate for respect for biological genders within the boundaries of sports. In the past, Riley Gaines had witnessed it firsthand when she lost to transgender swimmer Lia Thomas.

She posted a clip of Angela Carini’s submission to Imane Khelif on X and wrote a satirically wild theory that maybe women did not want to be punched in the face by a male as the world watched and applauded.

This is glorified male violence against women.

The Internet still echoed of the aftermaths of the fight. While IOC gave their statement confirming there had been no miss with Imane Khelif being selected at the Olympics, the internet found themselves at crossroads with the decision.
