MLB uniforms once again become the talking point in baseball world on Tuesday when Riley Greene suffered a terrible tear. The Detroit Tigers’ outfielder tore his pants while sliding into home plate.

This uniform mishap took place when the Tigers took on the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Detroit-based outfit rallied late in the night inning and came back to win the game 5-3. However, the highlight of the day soon turned to be Greene’s unfortunate moment.

As Greene rounded off the third base, he would slide into the home plate to make himself safe and get another run on the board for this team. In doing so, his pants would get ripped apart from the right side. The amazing part here is that he did not seem to realize that his pants had been ripped until his teammates pointed it out. Since the introduction of the new uniforms for the 2024 season, the fans and experts have criticized the designs of them. Several players seemed to have been uncomfortable and are reported to have grown unhappy while wearing them.

This lead to Commissioner Rob Manfred speak out. The top baseball boss claimed he anticipated complaints but backed the uniforms designed in his address.

In baseball, any new initiative, there’s going to be some negative feedback. The jerseys are different. They are designed to be performance wear as opposed to what has traditionally been worn…but they have been tested more extensively than any jersey in any sport.

As soon as the clip of Riley Greene’s went viral on social media, fans were quick to jump in and share their thoughts. Once again they expressed their strong dissatisfaction towards the new uniforms.

Fans on X called labeled the designs as “garbage” while some sarcastically applauded Fanatics, the company who made them in the first place. One user on X seemingly took a huge jibe at them and asked when are they going to get new ones which are not from online retails stores.
