Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant joined the list of cricketers who have lent their support in the country’s fight against the pandemic. The 23-year-old took to Twitter to inform that he is making a monetary donation that will help in providing Oxygen cylinders with beds, COVID-relief kids and much more. He urged others to join him as he saluted the frontline workers who have been working tirelessly for over a year now.

I am supporting the Hemkunt Foundation through a monetary donation that will help provide 02 cylinders with beds, Covid-relief kits and much more to those suffering across the country. I am especially keen to work with organisations providing medical aid and support to rural India and non-metro cities, which do not have the capacity of medical infrastructure than that of the major cities,” Pant said in an official statement on Twitter.

I urge everyone to contribute in their own way so that we can help reach the remotest parts of the country and spread awareness about COVID relief and vaccination programs being run by the central and state governments. Please remember to stay safe, follow safety protocols, and get vaccinated, when possible,” he added.

India has been hit hard with the second wave of COVID-19. The country has been recording over 3.5 lakh COVID-19 cases regularly and has also breached the 4 lakh mark on four occasions. The country recorded 4,01,078 cases a day before. The death toll has also been on the high side.

Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli and wife Anushka Sharma have started a campaign on the crowd-funding platform Ketto to raise funds for tackling the COVID-19 pandemic. The couple took to Twitter today to announce the news, releasing a video where they stated that they were pained by the country suffering. To start the donations off, they contributed a sum of Rs. 2 crore for the cause as well.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been wreaking havoc in India with more than 4 lakh cases per day being reported. There is a constant state of panic and uncertainty over each and every aspect of life and there are various acute problems facing the country like the shortage of oxygen and unavailability of beds for treatment. At this juncture, a plethora of celebrities and sportspersons have come forward to contribute funds.

India reported 4,01,078 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, according to the union health ministry. With this the country has recorded over 4 lakh daily cases for the third consecutive day.
