India vs England 2021: WATCH – Rishabh Pant comes up with unconventional helicopter shot to hit a boundary

Rishabh Pant gave yet another proof as to why he is here to stay with a splendid knock in the first innings of the third ODI between India and England as he rescued his side from a precarious position with a counter-attacking knock. India were once again put in to bat as Virat Kohli lost the toss for a third consecutive time in the series. India decided to go with just one spinner as they dropped Kuldeep Yadav for T Natarajan.

India got off to a good start as Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan started positively. However, once the two were dismissed, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul followed cheaply as well to leave India tottering. It was Pant and Hardik Pandya who revived the innings with attacking knocks as both got to a half-century before getting out, making sure India crossed the 300-run mark at the end of the innings.

Leggie Adil Rashid was looking extremely threatening during his first spell as he removed both Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. As he came in to bowl the 23rd over, Pant was just beginning to get settled. Off the very first ball, the wicket-keeper batsman greeted him with an unconventional shot that was similar to MS Dhoni‘s helicopter shot but this one went between square leg and midwicket.

Pant then followed up the shot by getting down and scooping Rashid over his shoulder. The over proved to be the perfect launcher for a trademark Rishabh Pant innings and that was exactly what it turned out to be.
