Rivals ‘disrespecting’ Anthony Edwards unexpectedly puts him behind Stephen Curry
Anthony Edwards closes in on record-breaking shooting figures which rival only Stephen Curry after hot start to the season.
Anthony Edwards trails Stephen Curry's legendary feat after hot shooting streak
Anthony Edwards came into the league with a number of questions to be answered about his game. The only thing that was absolutely certain about Edwards was his raw athleticism and acrobatic finishing ability.
However, to start this season, Edwards has added a deadly new weapon to his arsenal. AntMan has been on fire from downtown, rivalling only Stephen Curry in his record-breaking shooting.
After the first nine games of the season, Anthony Edwards has been smoking hot from behind the three-point line. As rivals continue to disrespect his shooting ability, Edwards has laced 50 three-pointers in his first 9 games of the year.
His shooting prowess trails only Stephen Curry on the all-time list, who drilled 55 threes and 53 threes across nine games in two of his greatest offensive seasons.

Stephen Curry was red hot at the start of last season, with many picking him as the favorite to win league MVP. However, the Warriors’ team struggles kept Curry from entering the MVP conversations. Anthony Edwards is following a similar trajectory this season as he has been the center of the Minnesota Timberwolves offense.
Across the first nine games, Anthony Edwards has not only been shooting a high volume of threes but has also been shooting them at an incredible percentage. He currently sits at 48.1% shooting from downtown while averaging 29.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists. More importantly for Timberwolves fans, Edwards has been a +43 on the court for them, dominating the minutes he’s on the floor for his team.
Can Anthony Edwards win the MVP this season?
Anthony Edwards has been spectacular, to say the least, this season. After an offseason filled with major changes to the team, the Wolves have stayed afloat due to Edwards’ offensive brilliance. The Wolves had a shaky start to the season with a 3-3 record. However, the outburst of scoring from Edwards has led the Wolves to a three-game winning streak and they are at 4th place in the Western Conference right now.
As Anthony Edwards continues to progress from strength to strength, he’s crafting a compelling case for a shot at winning MVP this season. The NBA released its first MVP ladder of the season over the past week. The Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis and Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum occupied the top spots on the list.
Edwards, however, ranked 7th on the MVP ladder. As the Timberwolves continue to ascend on their upward trajectory, it’s going to be hard to keep Edwards out of the top five for much longer. If he is able to maintain even some of his shooting brilliance going forward into the season, Anthony Edwards could very well cement his place as the ‘next face of the league’.
