Former Manchester City winger, Riyad Mahrez left a unique reaction, agreeing with the fans about the playing style of City’s latest Brazilian recruit, Savinho. Following a move from Troyes earlier this summer, Savinho pulled off a cameo in the Community Shield final which was more than enough for City to hand him the first start of the Premier League against Chelsea.
Savinho completed a £21 million move to Manchester City and since then has been impressive enough. In the clash against Chelsea, he was seen running rings around the defenders emphatically, whether skidding past them riding high on sheer speed or leaving them twisted in a knot with an excellent display of his fancy footwork.
Manchester City posted a video of Savinho making the ripples that threw Chelsea off their rails. Riyad Mahrez commented, “Wait a minute,” followed by a couple of emojis, leaving the fans nodding that the Brazilian does actually have a style somewhat similar to the Algerian.
Savinho caught the eyes of Manchester City while being away on a loan at La Liga side, Girona in the last season. Ever since his debut in the Premier League, fans started drawing comparisons between Mahrez and Savinho, stating that the two have similar styles of play and the arrival of the latter should ideally fill the void that was left with the departure of the Algerian.
Here is how Manchester City started their latest season
Manchester City started their Premier League with a clinical victory against Chelsea. Erling Haaland opened the scoring for City with a delightful low chip past Marc Cucurella. It was Mateo Kovacic‘s late strike that hammered the final nail on the coffin for the Blues. Chelsea was no match to Manchester City’s dominion in the midfield that was engineered by the star-studded duo of Kevin de Bruyne and Bernardo Silva.
Such was the dominion carved by Manchester City that their preceptor, Pep Guardiola made a solitary substitution in the regulation time which saw Phil Foden coming in place of Savinho. City started the season with a bang as they edged past Manchester United in the Community Shield final after proving to be the superior side in the tie-breaker.
