Andrey Rublev enters the Nitto ATP Finals as the 7th seed and is only one of the two players, alongside Diego Schwartzman to make their debut at the ATP Finals. The Russian enjoyed a tremendously successful season that saw him lift 5 ATP titles and break into the top 10 rankings. The Russian started his 2020 season at the Qatar Open, where he clinched the trophy, defeating Corentin Moutet in the finals. Next he played at the Adelaide International, where he won his 2nd consecutive trophy, defeating Lloyd Harris in the final. The Russian was in unstoppable form, winning 8 consecutive matches, and back to back titles.
Andrey Rublev was defeated in the 4th round of the Australian Open by Alexander Zverev in straight sets. The Russian had defeated David Goffin in the third round to reach the last 16 in Melbourne. Next he played at the ATP Rotterdam Open, where he was the 7th seed and lost to Filip Krajinovic in the quarterfinals. The last tournament he played before the coronavirus disruption was the Dubai Tennis Championships, where he once again lost in the quarterfinals to Dan Evans.

The Russian resumed his season at the Cincinnati Masters where he was defeated in the 1st round by Dan Evans again. However, Rublev quickly regained his form and made a quarterfinal run at the US Open 2020, before losing to fellow Russian, Daniil Medvedev in straight sets. Rublev was in top form at the Flushing Meadows, outplaying his opponents in the opening rounds.
He defeated Matteo Berrettini in the last 16 encounter to make it to the last 8. Next, he got his clay court season underway at the Italian Open 2020, where he suffered a second round exit at the hands of Hubert Hurkacz in 3 sets.
3rd Title of the season at Hamburg

Andrey Rublev continued his clay courts season at the Hamburg Open, which he won after defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the finals in three set. He defeated Roberto Bautista Agut and Casper Ruud on course to the title.
The Russian had another quarterfinal run at the French Open 2020, before he lost to Tsitstipas in straight sets, an opponent he beat in the finals at Hamburg. Rublev was once again in top form through out the tournament, defeating the likes of Kevin Anderson, M. Fucsovics.
Two more titles at Petersburg and Vienna

Andrey Rubelv started his indoor hard court season at the Petersburg Open where he claimed his 4th trophy of the season, defeating Borna Coric in straight sets in the final. He had also defeated Denis Shapovalov in the semifinals earlier. Next he played at the Vienna Open, where once again he exceeded all expectations and claimed his 5th title of the season. He defeated Lorenzo Sonego in straight sets in the final.
The Russian also defeated Dominic Thiem, the defending champion in the quarterfinals in Vienna. Throughout the week in Vienna, he did not drop a single set. Next up, he participated at the Paris Masters, where he was defeated by Stan Wawrinka in the 3rd round in a three set encounter.

Andrey Rublev is in red-hot form coming into the tournament and is expected to certainly leave a mark in his debut at the ATP Finals. The Russian will be drawn into a group with either Nadal or Djokovic, but is atleast expected to make the semifinals. Rublev who has hardly put a foot wrong after the season resumed in July, will be full of confidence. Rublev has also beaten the likes of London bound players, Dominic Thiem and Stefanos Tsitsipas in the past 2 months.
