As bright as the Buffalo Bills’ record against the Kansas City Chiefs is in the regular season, they haven’t been able to break the biggest rivals in the playoffs. Three of the four times that they have been close to the Super Bowl contention, their dream has been crushed by the two-time Super Bowl defending champions. The fate has once again brought the two together for the AFC Championship game and it appears Rob Gronkowski has some advice that the Bills need to hear.

After betting against his hometown team in the divisional round only to be proven wrong, the legendary tight end is believed to have found the strategy to ensure Buffalo’s victory. That’s why, as they head towards Patrick Mahomes-led Chiefs, who are coming off a controversial playoff win, Gronk sided with them while offering sarcastic advice to Josh Allen-led Bills.

I know how the Bills can win. When they sack Patrick Mahomes, just touch him. Don’t do anything more, you know. Don’t throw him too hard down on the ground—you might get a penalty.

The four-time Super Bowl champion was referencing the controversy around the two roughing-the-passer flags called on the Houston Texans’ defensive end Will Anderson Jr. and linebacker Henry To’oTo’o in the divisional round, which scrutinized the referees’ biases towards the elite quarterback. Additionally, the sheer difference in the count of penalties called against Houston to that of Kansas City also raised many eyebrows.

Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes unfazed by ongoing criticism and controversy

The growing controversy has scrutinized Kansas City’s credibility, as ESPN reported that since 2021, the Chiefs have been penalized fewer than 30 times compared to their opponents, never receiving more penalties than them. Many believe this is tarnishing the three-time Super Bowl MVP’s legacy, however, he isn’t too bothered about it.

I’ve kind of learned that no matter what happens during the game, that something’s going to come out about it if you win and you continue to win, so I don’t really pay attention to it.

Patrick Mahomes said according to Peter Grathoff of Kansas City Star

The stakes are high for both the Bills and the Chiefs, given a loss would tie Allen to Aaron Rodgers for the highest playoff defeats, whereas a win would make Mahomes a step closer to achieving the unprecedented three-peat that may dethrone Tom Brady from the title of Greatest Of All Time.
