The moniker ‘TB12’ has become synonymous with Tom Brady. The seven-time Super Bowl champion wore the number 12 throughout his NFL career and TB refers to his initials. If one were to ask a former teammate of his what TB12 signifies then they would respond with the NFL great’s name in under a second.

Not Rob Gronkowski, he thinks differently. The legendary tight end spent 11 years playing with Brady but in his eyes, the rightful owner of the TB12 moniker is Terry Bradshaw. On the latest episode of the Dudes on Dudes podcast hosted by Gronkowski and Julian Edelman, the duo was sharing their takes on the scariest ‘dudes’ to play in the NFL such as Ray Lewis and James Harrison.

While they were on this topic, a notable name that came up was four-time Super Bowl champion and former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Jack Lambert. He was a menace on the field and played a big role in the team’s success during the 1970s. However, one cannot bring up the 1970s Steelers without mentioning Terry Bradshaw‘s name.

The GOAT of tight ends gave credit to the Steelers legend. Considering the impact left by QBs who came after him, Terry Bradshaw does not get as much credit as he deserves.

Lambert had a profound impact on the Steelers, leading them to four Super Bowl victories in the 1970s with our guy, Terry Bradshaw, the original TB12. Oh, good old Terry Bradshaw. Uncle Terry.

He is the only quarterback in NFL history to have won the Super Bowl in 2 consecutive years, twice! He was the first QB who won the MVP award in the big game in 1979 and 1980. While Rob Gronkowski rightfully states that Terry Bradshaw is the ‘Original TB12,’ the Steelers legend deserves to be addressed as Mr.Clutch because he threw the game-winning touchdown passes in all four Super Bowls that he won.

Terry Bradshaw has had a legendary career. While his numbers do not necessarily compare to Tom Brady‘s, he paved the way for future QBs and inspired them to be like him. It is safe to say that he was the TB12 of the generation before Brady entered the NFL.

However, the latter deserves credit for popularizing the name and making it viral through his business ventures and marketing strategies. Today, 9 of 10 individuals will say that TB12 refers to Tom Brady whereas that 1 person like Gronk will know of Terry Bradshaw.
