There have been no debates when it comes to the greatest tight end of all time as the answer narrows down to just one name, Rob Gronkowski. However, when the legendary TE was asked about it, he surprisingly named one from today’s era— Travis Kelce

This isn’t the first time Gronkowski and Kelce’s names have come up in the greatest tight-end debate. The former finally put an end to the debate during his appearance at Fanatics Fest on Friday. It appears the former New England Patriots star is awestruck by the progress the three-time Super Bowl champion has been making, despite his varied activities off-field.

For longevity, yes. He's still going. I'm on the bench. I'm going with Kelce. He's come through in the Super Bowl more than Kittle. It's Kelce.

Interestingly, there isn’t much age difference between Gronkowski and Kelce. In fact, they were born in the same year. However, they were drafted into the NFL with a year difference. Despite struggling through injuries, the former retired from football with a remarkable record of five Pro Bowl calls and four Super Bowl rings, while the Kansas City Chiefs star already has nine Pro Bowl selections and three Super Bowl rings.

Kelce has already surpassed Gronk in career stats, given the former Patriot retired with 9,286 yards, 92 touchdowns, and 612 receptions meanwhile he logged  11,328 yards, 74 touchdowns, and 907 receptions.

Jason Kelce picks Rob Gronkowski over brother Travis Kelce

Just a few days prior to the Fanatics Fest, the newly-retired NFL center and Travis’ brother, Jason Kelce was asked the same question– to choose between Gronk and Travis for the greatest tight end tag. But Jason humbled his brother and chose Gronk.

I am biased—he’s my brother, but listen, Gronk was fantastic

During his days playing in the league, Gronk was known for his perfect balance of striking and blocking. Some even argue that he was a better blocker, ultimately making him the greatest tight end of all time.

Nonetheless, Gronkowski is aware he’s fulfilled his role in the NFL, while Travis continues to rack up stats with one of the league’s best, Patrick Mahomes. As Travis Kelce and the Chiefs enter the new season as the team to beat, this heartfelt recognition from one legend to another underscores Kelce’s continued excellence, marking the passing of the torch to a deserving successor.
