Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills qualified for their seventh straight playoffs with the win over the Cleveland Browns a couple of game days ago. The win helped the Bills stay on course for their sixth division crown.

However, a one-point loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 17 ended that pursuit and officially knocked them out of the race for the AFC’s number one seed. Allen and the Bills can leap over both the 11-5 Chargers and Texans.

The Bills must defeat the Jets on the final day of the regular season and hope the Texans and the Chargers lose theirs. Meanwhile, the Patriots end their campaign by hosting the 7-9 Dolphins at Foxborough. A win would guarantee the second seed. They could finish top if the 13-3 Broncos slip up against the Chargers.

A lot can happen in week 18. Regardless, the Patriots and the Bills will play football in January, and Rob Gronkowski wants them pitted against each other. Gronk admires Allen and his adventure with the Bills, but the former Patriot is loyal to the organization.

The four-time Super Bowl champion believes that it would be favorable for the Patriots to play against the Bills in the playoffs. Grownkowski told Kay Adams on a recent segment of Up & Adams:

I already played them twice. Should have beaten them twice… It was kind of good for the Patriots to lose that game… They talked about that ‘hey, we can learn from this situation. We’re on a 10-game win streak. We didn’t know what it like to be up, and another team comes back.

The Patriots are 1-1 against the Patriots this year. In week 5, an Andy Borregales field goal helped the Patriots sneak in a 23-20 victory at Orchard Park. Ten weeks later, the Bills snapped the Patriots‘ eight-game win streak with a 35-31 victory.

Gronk may favor the Patriots to win, but he respects Allen and what he brings to the table. The reigning NFL MVP possesses all the skills and leadership necessary to single-handedly guide Buffalo to victory. He added:

Josh Allen is the scariest part of the Buffalo Bills. And Josh Allen will always be a scary player, no matter what, until he’s not scary anymore.

Allen has yet to surpass 4000 passing yards, unlike the Patriots QB Drake Maye, but he has contributed 39 total touchdowns while completing 69.5% of his passes.

Will Josh Allen play against the Jets in week 18?

Several playoff teams have confirmed resting starters for their week 18 fixtures, including the Chargers and the Eagles. The Bills could follow a similar path depending on Allen’s health.

The 29-year-old reportedly has a sore foot and was seen limping after the Eagles game last week. However, the Bills Mafia can relax, their ace will play against the Jets. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport provided a crucial update on Allen earlier this week:

Josh Allen is going to be good to go for the Buffalo Bills ahead of week 18… All indications are he is fine and actually in a better place than he was last week.

Allen has a passer rating of 85.0 with 3,097 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in 14 games against the Jets since being drafted in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft. In the earlier fixture, Allen threw 14 completions for 148 yards and further rushed 6 times for 59 yards. Running back James Cook carried the ball 21 times for 132 yards and scored two touchdowns. The Bills won 30-10.
