After starting his job as an analyst for FOX Sports, Tom Brady has been cautious about showing public support to any particular player or team.

There was a time when Tom Brady would not have to think twice if he had to believe in his New England Patriots, especially when he had Rob Gronkowski to catch the ball, and Bill Belichick to coach them.

Those days are in the past, and now the head coach has moved to college with the University of North Carolina, and the tight end and his quarterback work as analysts for FOX Sports.

After the latter two departed, the Patriots were in the doldrums and were believed to be in a rebuilding phase once they signed Mike Vrabel as their next head coach.

Brady, however, did not expect that his former teammate would turn their franchise around in just one season. As they head into Super Bowl 60, the Patriots are about to fight for the right to win their first ring since that Brady, Gronkowski, Belichick era.

I don’t know. I’m not Tom. I haven’t talked to him yet, since the Patriots were in the Super Bowl. Because he probably wants to be the quarterback. He’s that competitive. He probably wants to be the guy in the Super Bowl right now.

Rob Gronkowski said on Up & Adams

This was the five-time Pro Bowler’s reply to host Kay Adams when she asked why Tom Brady was not picking the New England Patriots to win Super Bowl 60. It seems he believes his QB’s competitiveness may have stopped him from cheering their former team.

Tom Brady did not want to pick his former team

This topic has been doing the rounds since Tom Brady hopped onto SiriusXM’s Let’s Go! podcast to talk about Super Bowl 60. When host Jim Gray asked him about his pick to win the big game on Sunday, the former QB replied:

I don’t have a dog in the fight in this one. May the best team win. And in terms of the Patriots, this is a new chapter in New England, and I’m glad everyone’s embraced the Mike Vrabel regime… We did it for 20 years. There was a little bit of a hiatus in there, but the Patriots are back, and it’s a very exciting time for everyone in New England.

It seems the seven-time Super Bowl champion was trying to stick to his primary job as a broadcaster for FOX Sports and did not want to seem biased.

Brady has been facing criticism ever since he took the job, and he still continues to face it. On top of that, he is a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Maybe those conflicts stopped him from saying what he truly felt in his heart. But this has led many to think this was possibly him throwing shade at the new era, which could possibly undermine Tom Brady’s time with the team.

Tom Brady’s former teammate blasts him for not picking Patriots

Rob Gronkowski may have had a mild opinion on why Tom Brady did not want to publicly pick the New England Patriots. But another former teammate was not so subtle.

Say what it is… At the end of the day, if you’re a Patriot for life, you know what it is. Don’t give me that political bull crap, that’s just what it is. If you don’t think we’re gonna win, just pick Seattle then. Don’t straddle the fence.

Vince Wilfork told WEEI

This was standout defensive tackle and franchise legend Vince Wilfork, who felt that his former quarterback was just being ‘political.’ Wilfork hoped Brady would have stuck to what made him, and everyone in that dynasty, some of the greatest to play the game.
