Infamous Hollywood star claims Caitlin Clark is poorly treated like first African American MLB Star
Rob Schneider has compared Caitlin Clark with Jackie Robinson, the first African-American to play Major League Baseball in the modern era.
Caitlin Clark is receiving the Jackie Robinson treatment from opponents, feels Rob Schneider
Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark did not have a fruitful first playoff game of her WNBA career. Her poor shooting was a result of the Connecticut Sun imposing different defensive schemes to slow down the point guard. As the primary playmaker, that snowballed into a lackluster outing for her team.
Besides the result, one incident in the first quarter had Hollywood actor Rob Schneider losing his mind. When Sun star DiJonai Carrington poked the rookie in the eye, Schneider took to his official X account to repost a tweet from Jason Whitlock and compared Clark to Jackie Robinson, the first African-American to play in Major League Baseball in the modern era.
Schneider felt that DiJonai Carrington intentionally injured Clark, which affected her performance. He stated that Clark was receiving the same treatment Jackie Robinson received when he first entered the MLB.
This is a foul! The WNBA is not a professional league if it doesn’t protect its players! This eye poke was intentional. I hate to say this out loud but… Caitlin Clark is being given some of the same treatment that Baseball Great Jackie Robinson received.Rob Schneider said
When Robinson first entered the MLB, he was subject to hate-laced reactions from opponents, coaches and the media. It boiled over to the extent that a police officer in a rival location came onto the field and forced him to stop playing. Schneider opined that Clark was facing a similar ordeal.
WNBA players have already shown their jealousy towards Clark. Rival coaches and some sections of the media also make it a point to disregard her impact. Analyst Jason Whitlock had a similar opinion.
Jason Whitlock wants DiJonai Carrington suspended for hit on Caitlin Clark
After watching the Indiana Fever vs Connecticut Sun playoff game, Jason Whitlock took to social media to give his thoughts on the incident between DiJonai Carrington and Caitlin Clark. He opined that the Connecticut Sun star should get suspended for her actions.
Whitlock also felt that Carrington intentionally poked Clark in the eye. After all, it felt like it affected her in the rest of the game and impacted their result.
DiJonai Carrington should be suspended for Game 2.Jason Whitlock said on X
All things considered, the WNBA will lose out if such plays go unchecked. Caitlin Clark is the player bringing about change to the sport and any major injury to her will impact the league negatively. They should protect their star at all costs, even if it meant forcing the Indiana Fever to sign an enforcer and trade away NaLyssa Smith. Smith dating Carrington makes her redundant in this playoff battle.
