The situation surrounding Caitlin Clark and the WNBA has seemingly taken the sporting world by storm. Resulting in countless discussions and opinions being thrown around on social media. One of those who had a strong opinion on the situation was Robert Griffin III. He comes back with another opinion after Angel Reese took an unnecessary dig at her fellow rookie.
Angel Reese said in a press conference today that just like Caitlin Clark, she has been equally important in bringing the spotlight on to the WNBA. To this clip, Griffin III replied through his official X account.
If she changed that “because of me” to “because of all of us”, the whole WNBA would have been rocking with her.Robert Griffin III on X
The former Heisman Trophy winner thinks Angel Reese was trying to take the spotlight when it is brightest on the WNBA. Just like she made her own fame at Clark’s expense during the NCAA Championship winning game.
Robert Griffin III and a few others associated with the NFL voiced their concerns against the physicality Reese’s teammate used against Clark. Griffin III felt that Reese bringing attention to herself in the midst of all this is detrimental to the WNBA. Had she suggested that the league is now growing together alongside Clark, the fame would have spread around the league.
Instead, it makes it look as if Reese is there just to piggyback on whatever is the talking point and create her own spot in the media. But it seems the ESPN analyst, who just lost his role on Monday Night Football role, did not see the full interview.
Robert Griffin III found out that Angel Reese did talk about all WNBA players
An hour later, Robert Griffin III shared the second part of the interview which was edited out to make Angel Reese’s seemingly selfish claim go viral. He wrote this caption to alter his views from the original comments he made.
Turns out Angel Reese did end up saying “because of all of us” so the whole WNBA is rocking with her. This part was edited out of the viral clip.Robert Griffin III wrote
Robert Griffin III now believes that Angel Reese spoke up on what the entire WNBA feels. The clip was edited to make it go viral. But the latter part was not revealed.
Eventually, Reese suggested that the players in the league have done enough to deserve getting media attention. But instead of distributing the attention, Reese feels the league and the media are concentrating their attention on Caitlin Clark.
Angel Reese has talked about this before in a now-deleted pick. Suggesting that the league is not getting its fame just because of one person. She feels all players should get the fame.
